prepping for your awp mini session

Styling:

It truly is all about styling for your family photos! The backdrops are beautiful, but I like my clients to be the focus of my images! You don't need to match, but be sure coordinate your outfits! See my "what to wear for your family shoot" Pinterest board, here, for some inspiration!

I always start with one person's outfit (typically my favorite piece) and coordinate around that one person's outfit when planning what everyone else will wear.

Remember to accessorize! The details make all the difference.

Most of all, dress for comfortability and confidence!

Ladies, if you decide not to have your hair and makeup professionally styled, I recommend wearing your makeup a little heavier than normal and be sure to wear a lip color. Remember, everything looks less dramatic on camera.

Additionally, I recommend avoiding wearing shoes that are difficult to walk in. We will be having so much fun at your shoot, I want to make sure you're comfortable!

I always recommend choosing outfit colors that will go well with your home decor. This may sound silly, but when you print your images and hang them on the wall, you'll want them to match the aesthetic of your home.

When to Arrive: Because of the tight time frame, please arrive 10-15 minutes early. I want to make sure you get your full 20 minutes of shooting time and aren't rushed before. When you arrive, feel free to wait in your car or walk around while I'm finishing up with the clients before you.

What to expect: I love to have fun with my clients! I will pose you for several photos, but I also like to photograph candid moments too! So if you have little kids, be prepared to tickle, snuggle, and play! We will be walking, hugging, piggy backing, and laughing (even if we have to fake it for a couple *insert winky emoji)

Props: No large props are allowed, but small props that you can hold are totally fine!

To respect the environment, props such as glitter, confetti, smoke bombs, etc. are also not allowed.

After the shoot:

First off, I always encourage my clients to plan something fun after your shoot! After all, you are all dressed up!

You can expect to receive your digital images 7-10 days after your session via an online gallery!
